Visitors to one of Stirling’s most popular attractions can now take home a bottle of whisky they have filled themselves.
Stirling Distillery has launched Fill Your Own Whisky at the Old Smiddy, its distillery on Castlehill below Stirling Castle. Visitors fill their bottle at the distillery’s fill station with a blended whisky that has been enhanced by malts from independent bottlings, then hand-write the label with the bottle number, the date and their own name before taking it home. Every bottle is also recorded in the distillery ledger, with the name of the person who filled it and the date.

The first release is the Chairman’s Blend, a 50-litre blend created by co-founder Cameron McCann. It will not be made again. When the last bottle has been filled, a completely different whisky will take its place, and like the Chairman’s Blend, it will only be available at the distillery.
Cameron McCann, co-founder of Stirling Distillery, said: “We are always looking at ways to evolve the visitor experience at the distillery, and giving guests the opportunity to bottle their own liquid felt like a great addition to our award-winning offering. There is something pretty special about walking away with a bottle you filled yourself.”
Fill Your Own is the latest addition to a visitor experience that has made the Old Smiddy one of the city’s most visited attractions since it opened in 2019. Stirling Distillery has twice been named Stirling Visitor Attraction of the Year, most recently at the 2025 Stirling Business Awards. It holds a VisitScotland 4-star visitor attraction rating and an AA Gold Award. At the time of writing, it is ranked #2 in things to do in Stirling on Tripadvisor.
The launch comes as the distillery’s own whisky story gathers pace. In 2024, Stirling Distillery brought whisky production back to the city after an absence of 172 years. Head distiller Hugo McCann won Best Scottish New Make Whisky at the World Whiskies Awards 2025, and the distillery’s first single malt, Cask One, is due for release in 2027.
Fill Your Own opens to visitors from Wednesday 14th October 2026. Bottles are 50cl and cost £45. The Chairman’s Blend will not be sold online.
