Stirling Distillery Triumphs at the World Whiskies Awards Scotland 2025
Stirling, Scotland — 10th December, 2024 — Stirling Distillery has achieved a significant milestone by winning Gold and being crowned Category Winner in the New Make Spirit category at the prestigious World Whiskies Awards Scotland 2025. This accolade highlights Stirling Distillery as one of Scotland’s most exciting new talents in whisky production.
The awards ceremony, held at the historic Signet Library in Edinburgh, celebrated the finest in Scottish whisky-making. The distillery’s New Make Spirit stood out for its exceptional quality, earning the highest recognition among a competitive field.
At 63.5% ABV, this incredibly smooth spirit is getting rave reviews. With hints of Italian grappa, apple strudel, soft caramel and condensed milk, grab a bottle for yourself before it heads to a cask to mature.
This victory not only highlights Stirling Distillery’s commitment to craftsmanship but also represents a revival of whisky production in Stirling, following the historic restart of distillation in 2023 after more than 170 years.
At the heart of this achievement is Hugo McCann, their 19-year-old distiller, whose talent and energy have been instrumental in crafting the award-winning New Make Spirit. His dedication and skill reflect a promising future for Stirling Distillery in the whisky industry.
Cameron McCann, Co-Founder of Stirling Distillery, expressed his gratitude:
"This award is a testament to the hard work, passion, and dedication of our team. Our New Make Spirit reflects the heritage and passion we bring to whisky-making, and we’re honoured to have it recognised on such a prestigious stage. We’re excited to represent Scotland in the global competition next year."
The World Whiskies Awards are internationally renowned for recognising the very best in the whisky industry. Stirling Distillery’s achievement in the New Make Spirit category positions it as a strong contender in the global finals, set to take place in March 2025.
This recognition adds to the distillery’s growing reputation, which includes the launch of its Stirling 900 whisky series and its innovative contributions to the whisky and spirits industry.
