Stirling Distillery Announces Limited 2026 Private Cask Release
Stirling, Scotland – 20th February 2026. Stirling Distillery, situated at the foot of Stirling Castle, has announced the release of just four private whisky casks for 2026, continuing its carefully managed expansion of whisky production in the city.
The distillery has released a small number of casks annually since 2023, reflecting a disciplined, quality-led approach as it prepares for its first whisky bottlings from 2027, the first time whisky will have been produced in Stirling since 1852.
Each of the four 2026 casks is filled with Stirling Distillery’s single malt new-make spirit - awarded Best Scottish New Make at the World Whiskies Awards 2025 - and matured in one of four distinct finishes: red wine, sherry, bourbon or rum. Each cask holds 200 litres and will rest in the distillery’s traditional Lowland dunnage warehouse, in view of Stirling Castle.
Cameron McCann, co-owner of Stirling Distillery, said:
“We have taken a measured approach to private cask releases since 2023, ensuring production planning and maturation capacity remain our priority. With our new-make spirit now recognised internationally, and encouraging early maturation showing developing sweetness and gentle oak influence, we are pleased to release a very limited allocation for 2026.”
Existing cask owners are already seeing promising development. Larry Tan, who secured a cask in a previous release and recently visited the distillery to sample his maturing spirit, said:
“The new-make spirit shows real maturity already — naturally sweet with a gentle coconut note, and a finish that lingers pleasantly. It tastes remarkably ready and I’m very much looking forward to seeing how it develops in cask.”
The casks have been sourced from carefully selected cooperages worldwide to provide depth of flavour and long-term maturation potential. Owners may choose to mature their cask for up to ten years under optimal dunnage conditions.
As Scotland’s smallest whisky distillery, Stirling only release a handful of private casks each year. For 2026, just four casks are available, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with prices starting from £6,250.
